Garrett Ace 250 is it defective?

I was thrilled with my Ace, for awhile. It's pinpoint worked perfect... If it said something was there, it always was. Been using it on relic mode and it seems to be all over the place. The pinpoint is silent when it shouldn't be n just not registering. I'm trying to not get bent and hoping I'm doing something Wrong, but I'm not so sure. Anyone else having this issue?

If you hit the pin point directly over the object it will not work. ID the general location of the target and while not over it hit the button and swing in to it. Other than that I have heard of the pin point going out, but not very often. GL
