The GT should be significantly better than the 250. The Ace 250 is $200 machine and the GT is $400.
I've used the Ace 250, imo it sucks. A lot of users like em though. I have a Coinmaster Pro not the GT and it sucks too. I have held and looked at the GT and it's build quality or lack thereof is the same as the other Coinmaster series. Unimpressive.

If it were a choice between the two, hands down the GT. No contest! The GT will be TWICE the machine the 250 will be.

Just my opinion for what it's worth and that aint much!

What about the 350 vs the GT? I didn't know of the 350's existence when I posted this thread.

Go to YouTube and check video's on both. One other thing to consider is the audio.
Can you listen to it for a couple hours. I would go with the GT as well.
I'll go to the casino if I want to hear fluty sounds and bell tones.

GT over ANY Ace series! No contest!
There are other options in that price range that would be better choices. They ALL come from Tesoro.

If you feel you have to have a display I would choose the GT. If you don't need a display you might want to open up a can of worms and look at the Tesoro's.

Like Wayne said, the GT doesn't have a fixed ground balance like the ace 250, making it more versatile as far as hunting environments go. If you're looking at a great entry-level machine, I'd also check out the fisher f2 and the teknetics eurotek pro. Both of those are also excellent machines :)
Happy hunting!

Just my opinion but for the money your better off getting the Ace 350 at $297
over the GT at $400. You will have money left over for a nice hand held
pin pointer, a real must if you want to dig your targets and not end up making
a big mess. Many targets just blend in with the dirt and you have a heck of a time
seeing them.

I gotta disagree with u on that u get alot more options with the gt then the ace series gb,beach mode, vdi#'s. Both have hands down awesome customer service good luck with ur choice. U should do a quick side by side u know what u want to detect & what u wanna look for put the options of each machine side by side & c which one ull get the most out of

If your soil is moderate you don't need ground balance. Most of the places here in the Mid West do well with factory preset ground balance.
The Ace 350 is a great machine. Factory set GB and I have NEVER had a problem. Why pay more money for something you probably
not going to use? Whites make good machines, absolutely and their customer service is great but Garrett also makes great machines for a lot less
money and ALSO great customer service. If you ever DO decide to go seriously west and hunt gold, the Ace 350 or the Whites GT is not going to cut it for you.
The AT Pro or the AT GOLD will bring home the bacon.

Bought the GT last Tuesday and have maybe 8 hours with it, and that is my total time MD. I am just outside Philadelphia PA and have been hunting in TRASH parks. Once you get to know the GT you can tell trash from a good target without much trouble. Yesterday I hit a spot that was fairly clean and It said penny at 4" and there it was. I had another target that I thought might be a gold ring (yeah right!) at 8" it was a #8 flat washer at 8"(which is about 1/4 wide) Never used any other MD and feel fairly confident what targets are good and what are not after the 2 half days of use. Yes, I have a pile of crap and about 2 bucks in clad.. but I am feeling good about my purchase.

The pin point with VOC and the Numbers (in all metal mode) make nailing the spot very simple (when it isn't trash).

Congrats on your purchase! You are doing it right in that you gotta dig trash at first to figure out what the detector is telling you. As you have already found out they sometimes lie. You should learn to concentrate on the tone or tones to learn what your target is. Then you can look at the screen and see what it says. Don't get in the habit of just relying on the screen. In the long run you will be more effective by learning tone/tones.

Keep at it and good luck. Make sure you leave some stuff for us!
