G'day from Aus

Hi
Just ordered my first Detector. Minelab X-Terra 505.
Hope to do a bit of beach and park hunting with it.
Not sure the 505 was the best choice as I have since heard that they aren't great with wet beach sand.
Will see how I go.

Loving the site so far. Heaps of information and some awesome finds by members.

Xterra series isn't good for saltwater beaches, but get the 18.75 kHz coil and it can be used for gold nugget hunting.

I will learn with the X-Terra and then later on get an Excalibur II or similar for beaches etc I think.

Would the X-Terra work on dry sand on the beach?
Or mineralisation is an issue?
