Gen. Wayne Legion Pewter Button!!!

I got out to a new spot on Friday and dug 16 buttons and a 1739 1 Reale. I went back to that spot today a dug another 25 buttons, a 1/2 Reale, 1827 Large Cent. And my first complete Jew harp. One of my last finds of this morning was the Beautiful Wayne's legion button. After confirming what it was from some friends on Facebook I was very excited to know what I have just found. I can't find a lot of info on the button. Not a lot of other examples being dug. Not something I've seen found before. May be pretty Rare.

Ryan i brought in Greg Shipley to your post on the dig fellas page on facebook because if anyone knows anything on these buttons it's Greg.the fort site he is digging has given up 100's of em.message him with any questions.he's a great guy and knows so much bout them.awesome find!

The button's grabbed a lot of attention, but that is one nice early real. Way to go. I picked up a 1782 real last week which gives me three coins towards the set as I already had a 2 real and half real this year, but never an early one like yours. Mine always seem to be 1770's - 1780's. Great finds!

Looks like you are on a great late Colonial / early Federal site. Congrats on the Spanish silver and all the buttons. The Wayne's Legion button is tough to find in good condition and is pretty rare in most parts of the country (I have found one in poor condition). However I know that a lot of them have been found in Western Ohio at sites that Wayne was at during the Fallen Timbers campaign, including forts and camps he established.
