GEORGIVS III With "Reeded" edge. Possible 1787 Date - Help needed
Found my 5th 1700's coin of the year. Went out with Golden1 and Roz today. Last year I found a CFT 1774 and 1787 CT. at this place in the same hole. This coin has a reeded edge that I have never seen on a KGIII coin. Obviously it was made on a machine. The obverse and reverse have an outer rim like a regular coin you see in change. Golden1 took some pics of the edge and will post later. Almost impossible to make the date out, but I think it is 1787, but am unsure. Haven't got a weight on it yet. Could this be "Regal", or a "Machin Mills" coin? Also found a Wm. Rodgers and Son spoon and will post later. This spoon has an Eagle standing on a banner with "Connecticut". The back says--PAT ARD SCR Wm. Rodgers and Son AA. There is another banner on the front and I think it says--OUITRANSTOLITSUSTIBET? I'm NOT kidding. Is this The State of Connecticut Motto or some kind of latin phrase or something? Some of the letters are filled in with crud, so some of them might be wrong. There is also some kind of "crest" between the 2 banners. Spoon is completely intact and really looks cool. Thanks for Looking Hogge
