German helmet & some more.

Hi !!

I don't know where to put it.... ::) So, it's here.
Another find from Poland. Not a coin, but it was found with detector too.... ;D

First, photos "straight out of the ground"...
Today helmet looks much better, but i don't know if i can show You a photo of it.
There is an "Waffen SS" sign on it... If it is not against the law in United States, I will show You, how does it look like, today.
It is still incomplete, i need a few elements to finish it... But looks good. ;D

Greetings Matejko

The one on top just looks like a hole.
Infact it is just wet point, because photo was taken shortly after "first wash since 1940'.... ;)

I still don't know if it is legal to show you how does it look today. ???
Do You want to have a look, or is it illegal in U.S. to show an "SS" sign.... ??? ??? ???
Tell me.

Greetings Matejko

I see no Problem with it.

It's just a Symbol Not an ACTION.

Re: World War II, German helmet.

To be honest, Lets-go...

Me too....
But then, it would not be so nice.

Whatever You say.... It still remains as a part of history of my country.
Very bad part, but it is still a history...
We had a real war in Poland, everybody remember.

'To forgive' is not the same, as "to forget'.

Greetings Matejko

You won't believe it, but in Poland there are a lot of people, who collect german equipment of WW2.
To be clear, I'm not the one of them.
But Poles don't see nothing wrong with it, because it is a part of history.

Matejko,

I know it is a piece of history and I'm not saying nothing bad about you. I guess I can see why people would collect these things. It's not to remember, but to never forget. Regards lets_go

Re: World War II, German helmet.

Personally I agree with the statement "It's History"

And in My opinion No matter How Bad the History.

The Relics From them Should Be Preserved, Enjoyed & Shown.

IF you let this History Slip into Oblivian, who's to say it won't be repeated. 10 fold ?

I personally would be VERY PROUD to have that in My Collection.

Thanks for Sharing.
Jeff

Hang on, hang on.....
Missunderstunding.

No hard feelings, Lets_go. :)
In Poland we still have worse stuff in the ground. Missiles that did not went off for some reason.....
They still kill people, but only stupid ones. Those who try to make it "safe".
That's the problem.

Greetings Matejko

Have You ever seen "Rusty death"? (that's how we call it in Poland)
I have two pictures of it, if You wanna see.
No problem.

Matejko,

That is not against the law in the United States to show this off anything from the WW1 or WW2 or any other war. we take great pride in knowing we have freed the world from the German Rule and set country after country FREE... I have a collection of stuff from WWI and WWII but I don't have a real helmet.. VERY NICE please post more of your finds for us.. GREAT JOB !!!!! ;)

Re: World War II, German helmet.

We have any number of collectors of WWII memorabilia and Nazi marked or Waffen marked items are at a premium. Like a coin the helmet would have been worth a lot more $$$ in the USA if left as found. My father spent two years in Europe liberating the Europeans from Hitler's army. He went into France on D-day and went through the Battle of the Bulge, the Ardannes, throughout Belgium and France and wound up in Berlin when the Germans finally surrendered. He never got a medal but he was a hero to me. Thanks to him and thousands, no millions just like him we can enjoy more freedoms than any other country in the world. We have had the freedoms all along that the Poles are just now beginning to sample after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Sorry, I just get to feeling patriotic when I hear of something that is possibly forbidden due to government opression. JIM

Re: World War II, German helmet & some more.

I see no point in making separate topic for every each thing I've got.
I don't have much military stuff of WW2, that's because I prefer finding coins and small things. Rings, tokens, buttons...etc.

So, I'm going to put it in here If you want to see them.
I think, it's OK... ::)

Now in Poland the time is 05:55:00 AM, and i have to go to work.... :(
When I get back, I'll add some more.

The missile on this photo is 100% safe, I found a shell & exploder separately. Exploder used.
I keep in it Russian coins, those poor ones.

Greetings Matejko

Re: World War II, German helmet.

Hi Jimmilleo !

In my opinion, everone who was fighting against Hitler is a HERO !
No matter, if somebody got a medal or not.....

In Poland it is forbidden to show in public nazi symbols, that's why I asked.
Not everyone respect this law, but I do.

I know that helmet was worth more in condition 'as it was found", but I'm not going to sell it.
So, to me it makes no difference how much is it worth... Looks nice now, that's important to me.
Before, it was only rusty steel, nothing else. I just like, nice shiny things.... ;D
