Today wasn't spectacular but at least I didn't get skunked. Dug this telephone token and a few wheats. My friend found an awesome 1911 Fort Worth Cattleman's Convention medallion.
This is the same lot where I dug a nice N. Fort Worth Saloon token a few months ago.

Nice Garren. I think tokens are more interesting than coins sometimes. I would love to find one with the word "saloon" on it like the one you found.

Just found my first Goetz telephone token this summer up in Cape Cod! They are not that easy to come by and there are MANY different types. I like them.

My friend found one the day before I found this one. He had to go and dig it out of his junk bin. I wonder how many of these get tossed....they look like washers!
With so many varieties I would like to see more on the net.

I would like to see the one you found Erik...post a pic here if you want.

No problem. Funny thing is I didn't even realize it was a token until after I did some research on the Internet. My first thought was that I'd found some sort of thumbwheel of sorts. There are a few websites that list lots of varieties of these tokens. I'm still not even sure why they were used instead of regular coins, but regardless they are pretty cool and I'm happy to have found at least one of them. Congrats on your find too--I haven't seen many of them posted here.

Nice Erik! Thanks for posting it!
