going back to old tracks

I was wondering how far back from the track would a house be I went out and couldn't find anything out there walked around...so far back should I go?

I don`t know what the track is...but if your looking for an old home site look for a cellar hole if no hole....take your metal detector and listen for a lot of iron= The Iron Patch witch will be where the home/barn/shed site is.

It would be wherever the owner decided to build it. There's no set distance for anything of that nature. Look for an old driveway, possibly gravel, anything that doesn't normally occur in nature, etc. And swing the coil while you search to find any signs of former life. Good luck!

The same technique apply`s...do the RR tracks just stop? .....i think we need more info.

No they don't stop...the tracks are still there on an old map it showed 2 houses by the tracks in 1876...I walked around and all there is is small trees all over nothing looked out of place
