So, we all know that finding Quarters in the wild is nearly impossible, ( and I don't have time to become a member of the elite club of finding 1 in a box after searching umpteen boxes, lol) so i have decided to start buying at least 2 Silver Quarters a week for now on from my LCS. I would like to have a nice little pile of them and really don't know of another way to acquire them other than trying to buy them. I'm just looking to get them for junk Silver price, no Numismatic valued ones. Does anybody else here buy any every week or 2 also or every now and then? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thought about just buying some here and there just to have some. HH, maverick.

Try dirtfishing them! I've dug dozens of silver Washingtons, over half dozen barbers, half dozen SLQ's, and a seated. If I can do it anyone can.
I also buy a couple rolls worth of silver Washingtons each year, because they arent easy to find in rolls. Good luck.

Hey Fist, actually, it is my sons birthday next month, guess what we're getting him, Ace 250 baby! I can't wait to take him out with it! HH, Maverick.

I'm a member of a couple other forums where trading and buying a few coins at a time is happening all the time. I would have no problem supplying a few coins a week to whoever wanted to build up a hoard like that. Sometimes I ant to buy mercury dimes to search thru... Dutch shipping for the coins and ill trade you them for Rosie's. think outside the box. I don't mean to preach.

I have done a few trades with people on here and they have been great ( you know who you are guys and thanks!) Most of us know who the king of Quarters is on this forum, I just haven't talked with him yet about a trade. HHS, Maverick.

I'm up to thirteen silver quarters, all from reject or teller's trays.

I consider myself very lucky in that regard.

I check the rejects when I remember, haven't found anything yet. HHS, Maverick.

I normally buy two to four quarters a week or so. Depending on the price of silver I have gotten them for between 4.50 to 6 bucks apeice. If I am buying a lot, they will throw in an extra dime or shave some dollars off so I can get another quarter. My best score was when some guy turned in 11.70 worth of silver through the coinstar. Since I used my mom's money to buy it, I gave it to her. She's not much into coins or silver but it makes me feel better knowing she's got something for when the shoot hits the fan. Every time I go past my LCS sources I will stop and buy about 20 dollars worth of junk silver. Normally thats a half dollar and two quarters. Right now I am talking to them about saving any none-numistic war nickels they find and I will buy them from them at a dollar apeice.

Hope that helps,
Garoulady

Hey GL, that's a good plan you have there, 20 bucks a week is affordable, keep stacking it! HH, Maverick.

I've only found 1 silver quarter.. It was a teller tray find.. But I think buying silver quarters is worth it, i buy em from time to time at my LCS.. there's something about the Washington quarters that I like more than any other coin.. It's definitely worth the money if you ask me

I like to buy a few junk coins when I am at the LCS.

Problem is I dont have one closer than an hour away.

I've only started to roll hunt and only have a couple 64's and no bens or walkers yet so I've been mainly buying them although I have picked up a few quarters.

It would be a good way to trade up the 40percent if they would offer a fair trade.

I did try to trade up some of my 40's to 90's about 9 months ago, I offered the guy 4 40's for 1 90, which I thought was a fair trade, he offered me $1.50 each for my 40's, so I got discouraged and left. At that time 40's were worth 5 bucks each! HH, Maverick.

I don't search quarters actively, just CWRs from one branch. Never found any silver quarters in the rolls, and just one in a reject tray.

Trading something like 40% halves or something with numismatic value that you don't care about may be the way to go. I also buy quarters from time to time below spot off Craigslist or Ebay.

I know a lot of people do not like to sell on ebay , but if you want to turn your 40s into quarters then i highly recommend selling on ebay. You will get the most money for them. However this is only of you have a active ebay account. Last month i was able to list 5 items for free. I listed 1 roll of 40s. But what about paypal fees? When you send the invoice ask the buyer to send money as a gift, No fee taken! I do this all the time. Once you use ebay a few times they will send you once a month list free deals. Then if you can get the buyer to send the money as a gift threw paypal you will get a 100% of you money. HH

I will buy quarters from Ebay if I can get them for spot or less. I've accumulated about three rolls in the last year or so. Lately junk silver has been going for quite a premium so I haven't picked up much.

I would be careful on telling people how to defraud companies on here. There was a really big thread a few months back involving this exact same subject. Not sure how it all turned out in the end, but I am pretty sure it involved a few people getting warnings from the mods. Fraud is illegal, and I am sure telling someone how to break the law and to recommend it is probably against the site rules. I could be wrong though.

Actually, this isn't true. There are 3 basic areas of fees: 1)Listing Fees (Basic no additional features - then it is free) 2) Final Sale Value Fee (This is based on the ending value of the auction item and is a percentage based on tiered levels); No One is going to get around this fee. 3)PayPal Fee- All EBay payments must be paid with PayPal. Advising sending the purchase invoice as a gift is fraud.

Why do so many people like defrauding eBay? I don't use it, but understand that people think the fees are high. If that's the case, don't use it! I don't know why it's so hard to comprehend that if you use a service and agree to their terms and conditions, you owe the money you agreed to pay!

Sorry, I'm done but this type of thing drives me insane.

Here is my theory on Ebay Fees. THEY ARE WORTH IT!!! about 18 years ago, way before Ebay I bought an old house in Detroit There was a lot of cool stuff I did not want, and knew I could sell. I loaded the back of my pick up truck with a bunch of World War 2 stuff and sold it to a guy at a flee market for $150. There was also a complete dark room with tons of equipment. I trucked that stuff around to a bunch of photography studios and almost had to give it away. There was also a ton of vintage porn, (stills and negatives) I sold the whole lot for $350. Back then it was tough to find buyers. With Ebay you have the whole world to sell to, and people can search by category etc. I think the fees are a small price to pay to increase the number of potential buyers.

Back to the thread. I would look to by silver quarters from the Cash for Gold stores. I stopped by one once to see what they were paying for silver and the guy had a whole coffee can of quarters for sale. I bet you could get a better deal there than from a coin store.

Keep on Searching

Well, it is fraud, and is against the law. If you get caught, you can get sued and depending on the level of your activity, you could have criminal charges brought against you. Like Kiggity said, if you don't like the charges, don't use it. See if you can find another option.
