Oddly the Jackass was turned loose by its owners and then was found and used as a beast of burden by the discovery party of the mine. But the mule got loose and ran up hill and its hoof exposed the rich silver ore. The rest one would think was history, but the original owners were awarded a percentage of both mines and the prospector who used the mule seen to its retirement so it didn't have to work anymore. Of all who search for the big strike it was made by a jackass!
