Yep if it were the 1883 it would be
considered a counterfeit gold coin.
1883 Liberty Head V Nickel The word cent is not on the reverse of the coin. When the first Liberty V Nickels were struck in 1883, crooks realized they were about the same size as the $5 gold coins and plated them in gold and passed them of as $5 gold coins. Designer was Charles E. Barber; weight 5 grams; composition .750 copper, .250 nickel; diameter 21.2mm; plain edge.
I'm new to coins don't know much about them other than face value.i've had this coin a couple of years thought it was gold but it didn't feel heavy enough to me.Thanks for the help.
