I took a trip to the beach where the Thrift stores usually have half off sales on July 4th weekend. I found a new one I had heard of but never been and it was good. I found this amazing cuff bracelet for $10. It is all hand engraved and appears to be gold but no marks other than the hand etched initials CP on the tongue. What do you think? It will be a while before I can test it. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498939184.761214.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498939198.963870.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498939216.262575.jpg

I also got these great Danish Modern Neils Erik From Sterling cufflinks for $8. Those are keepers. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498939320.577741.jpg
Sterling and jade earrings. $2.50ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498939374.751290.jpgsterling and stone pendant on chain $2.50.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1498939411.087489.jpg

I stop by this antique shop and there's a pair of cufflinks made by that same maker. They've been in there for more than a year now, but the dealer won't budge off his $95.00 asking price.

Is it magnetic? If not maybe gold

It is not magnetic. I have a magnet I carry with me now and check before I buy. Here is why I believe it must be gold.

1. No wear thru despite its age.
2. Not magnetic
3. Signed in hand CP
4. Amazing level of engraving and finish
5. Engraving is done on both halves
6. Engraving is even done on the hinge
7. Weight. It has some weight to it for its density.

I'll let you know in about a week.

That bracelet looks A LOT like the 8k solid gold ring I found. Could be a solid low karat gold! But I wouldn't be surprised at all if it turns out gold filled. Even gold filled would be a good deal at 10 bucks.

I want one sooo bad. I am hoping to find one at a yard sale some day

OK so that's a little better than an acid kit! Can I send you some things? LOL just kidding. But it looks like you will have a good answer pretty soon.

Can you imagine walking into a thrift store armed with one of those haha? That'd be awesome!!

That bracelet is a Victorian bangle bracelet with black enamel. It is either gold filled or 10-14k. Back then they even did amazing engraving work like that on gold filled stuff. Tough to tell from the pics. Either way for $10 it was a steal.

Well I am finally back home and the bracelet tested positive for both 10 karat and 14 karat gold. It weighs 23.5 grams!

Wow! Lucky... that's worth way more than scrap as well! Did you make sure to go deep enough? I have had some gold filled stuff test positive on acid tests

I think so. I might swing it by my pawn guy to check it out.

Careful with that because they don't care about the piece being antique and will scratch the heck out of it if you let them. I had a ring and one guy starched the corner right off once.... know anyone with an electric tester? Call around!
