Re: Dirt bags from Alabama

I have a place in Alabama probably near where that dirt came from, Goldville and Hog mtn. south of Gragford, Cragford is promoting a gold camp and may be selling dirt.
I panned and higbanked in several locations, never struck it rich, didn't find a lot of gold but I had fun if that counts. You get gold fever, getting rich is not the priority.
Hope you have fun and find gold too, Gnewt

Re: Dirt bags from Alabama

If he got the dirt from The areas I mentioned it will probably contain a lot of pyrite, silica, and graphite. There is some fine gold in the area and high grade.
I have an old early 1800 map that shows where gold was being found then. The prospectors pulled out for California for the 49 rush and left a lot of gold, the last company was there in 1984 and closed in 1988 because the stamp mill could not make it pay. They were mining a mile east of my place.
All of my prospecting equipment is stored till April and I plan a trip to Bradshaw/ First Water area of Arizona the last week of April. Gnewt
