I will be in Sevierville, TN and traveling to Gastonia, NC the week before Christmas. Anyone know of places to pan in that vicinity? Appreciate any infor, thanks.

Last I saw the Schiele Museum in Gastonia had a Gem and Gold panning exibit set up outside. I think they bring raw material in the from the mountains to be panned. But you may want to contact them to be sure, and get the price and see if it is still open.
Otherwise, Cotton Patch, Mountain Creek (both in New London, about 1.5 hours from Gastonia) or Reed Mine (Cabarrus County, it's about 1 hour from Gastonia) are somewhat close by.
