It has a crud on it. Someone says it could be from fire damage or something melting It trying to clean it up I broke it in half at bend to get a better look. Weighs 4.4 grams marked 18k B39DEF49-DA59-4F84-9925-E3126A043130.jpegED35DADB-50A8-4F99-BE58-0215AC130EAD.jpegC0D6756C-78E6-4D43-A25C-D571A913CEBF.jpeg31A22482-3131-46D9-8954-7DF6D6F88DAF.jpeg

Looks like it's made of copper to me. It has that red tinge on the edges.

That’s what I thought maybe plated

Gold does not just break.

Drop it into concentrated sulfuric acid. Gold will clean up nice. All other metals (most) will dissolve. ╦╦C

I think its called "Rolled Gold". I've found 3 all under water, they look like 18K rolled around a base like copper. Not plated.

Thanks I was pretty certain is was not real. Just wanted to see people’s opinion.

I’m reading rolled gold is 100 times more gold than a plated gold piece. Could it possibly have value still?

Not worth it unless you had a lot still then not much it's not gold that's for sure. Next time my friend

Rolled gold or Gold filled jewelry that is marked, would be marked with its fractional count. Ie, 1/10 18kGF , or 1/40 18krg (rolled gold). It wouldn't be left with 18k ALONE. Anything marked 18k must be 18K Gold ONLY. Otherwise it's a TRAP!

Btw, imo it could be an 18k Broach Pin... Possibly Rose Gold. Which would explain the copper color. Acid test is the only way though REALLY. If you do t have o e, just walk into your local jeweler and he or she will without a doubt confirm it for you...

Thanks for your input Emma I sure hope you are right

I will take this to a jeweler this week....but FYI it wasn’t too hard to break when I broke it at the bend. However it had probably been like that for 100 years in the ground possibly. But the two pieces left over are extremely strong. I tried pretty hard to bend it a little just to see if I could crack the crud off of it and found it pretty difficult. Ended up bending a little but tends to make me think this is not copper

Gold has a special quality.... it looks like gold!

We’ve all been where you are at. Good luck. (Probably just a criminal illegal incorrect 18k mark)

Luckily I have found a real gold ring. I’d just like to say I found 2 golds. But hey I’m content with anything that happens

And i get the sarcasm. Looks like a dog turd.

how do you know ?
Ive found and sold thousands in gold..... Gold filled and plated is not worth the gas to take to a jeweler Gold does not break like that lol if you want gold plate or filled and want to pay I have plenty This reply wasnt to you Kmatch7 but a reply to andrewgupta
