Open the back and take a pic of the movement please.
And get a little wider pic of the front, cant tell if its stem or lever set.
There should also be a stamp in the case of the gold content.
If it says warranted 20 or 30 years it is gold plated.

Keep in mind that movements and cases can be from different manufacturers.
Alot of the times they were sold separately.

Looks to me as if the gold is flaking off, but still a super cool find! 8) I find lots and lots of pocket watch parts, but hardly ever a whole one.

Cool find. There are very few of these ever posted being found.

Usually on the inside of the back cover it will be marked with the gold content. Also on the back of the watch movement it might state if it is made of gold. Sometimes also on the inside of the back cover you will see were the jeweler that serviced the watch would inscribe the date of service and their initials.

Is the face plastic or glass?

Congratulations on such a nice find.

Very nice find!!!

Tried to research the name on the watch...very hard to see...tried these variations:

Tryatah
Tryaiah
Trvatah
Trvaiah
Ervaiah
Eryaiah
Ervatah
Eryaiah
Eryatch
Ervatch
Trvatch
Tryatch
and a few others I can't remember... lol

Was trying to research in the newspapers to see if anything could be found...to no avail. Can you see what the letters say and post....was I anywhere close? LOL

In the meantime...here's a link that they may be able to help you. I would email them with a pic of the watch...Let us know!

Again, very nice find,

yep, Trenton. Looks like they made fairly inexpensive watches, so probably gold plated. But still a great find in such good condition.

Thanks Hill Billy and DougF....I still can't see TRENTON in there...LOL. I can tell it started with a T, but then when I was getting no hits...I tried the E. The third letter looks like a V or Y to me...never figured it being an E. I need some new eyeballs...these are getting weak! LOL

Blowing up the photo just didn't help either...but thanks...

There are a few on Ebay and here's a link about the company: http://www.oldwatch.com/trenton.html

It does say Trenton, and the only other marks on it is 8371623 on the inside front. I can't get the back open and the inside is glass not plastic. Thanks everyone for all the good info.
