Ok I found an area that was caliche Sorry if I spelled it wrong. And I am finding some gold in the over burden as well as when I break of the caliche I find gold underneath. No pickers yet but for me finding small stuff 5-15 pieces per pan is good. I have only ran 4 buckets so far sampling. My question, should I try crushing the caliche up and panning that as well? I hope the images of the area up loads

I know one of the SMhunters claims is down by Dripping springs, Hayden.
There was some good gold pulled from the dripping spring placers at one time.
For $25 a year, and noone around the claim, it might be worth it.

I was thinking about going to the gpaap but it is up off of Northern and 51 area. 1.5 hours one way for me.
I talked to the treasurer sgtfda here on the forum.

RR I answered you earlier but ii didn't post. I think the SM Hunters would be good especially with that price. I have been thinking about joining them as well more options would be nice. But like you said I don't need crowds around me all day if I wanted that I would move back to California HUGH!

The SMThunt Claim at Rich Hill the "Stanton Rocker" is one of the best in the area. Good enough to pay your membership on a good day. Their Rye claim is good too. They often have group outings in and out of season, sometimes with transportation. Nice club and nice people. They have an annual metal detector hunt in Apache Junction that's the best in AZ, with great prizes. If I was going to pick a local club I would rather work their claims than the GPAA claims. Way cheaper than RoadRunner club too.

OK working this area again the black pan was this last Saturday just shy of 6 buckets, and about 6 hours pretty tough work but finding gold isn't easy. The green pan is all the gold combined from when I went 2 weeks.

Should I keep working this what does everyone think.
Thanks

If you pan clay, use a detergent or jet dri to break up that stuff. You might just be suprised at how much fine gold you can find. Good luck getting the gold.

Try some other spots to get a sense for yourself of whether to keep digging there. It's all relative and a matter of where you can get access and how far you are willing to drive and what kind of gear you can afford and ...you get the idea.

Well I first panned this area in a few different spots up stream roughly 100 & 300 yards and didn't get any color. I then walked down and saw this and thought there wouldn't be anything. I worked a half bucket and found some small stuff. Every bucket I work has these small flakes but I am trying to find where its coming from. there are some hills with some different shades of dirt but some is red and loose. I am assuming its got to be coming from there.

I have to walk my buckets up a 45 degree incline about 40-50 yards to run the material. If I had a bigger vehicle I would just wheelbarrow it up. Oh well at least I am finding something and there is plenty of it material to work.
