Howdy Folks!
Got a little hunting done at some local tot lots.
Best find was a 14k gold ring, but it wasn't stamped.
So, I did the acid test on it. You'll see a photo with
the acid test showing the 14k result. The splot of
fluid at the top is 10k acid, and the lower one is 14k
fluid. Since you can see the gold beneath on the stone,
it shows up to be 14k.

Also, on another note, I found a square coin from the
Netherlands. Never seen one of them before.

And I am including a photo of myself with my brand new
Stetson. Sometimes a guy just needs a new Stetson to
appreciate life better.

Blessings,
M-Taliesin

Congrats on your finds, M-Taliesin. Not all gold that is stamped and vice versa. It is better to test all gold jewellery. My friend has recently found a very heavy men's ring stamped 14K and even with maker's mark. After being exposed to elements for a while, the ring clearly looked what it was - a fake. I found a stamped 9K white 'gold' men's wedding band that was some plated copper fake.

Nice ring !

I've never really concentrated on the tot lots before but after seeing finds like these again and again I think I'm gonna make a point of hitting them this year.
