Went out for a short hunt at the Sports Complex this morning. Man, the ground is really getting hard. Found the usual clad but the hunt was elevated from good to really good with two late finds. First, about two inches down I found a silver ring. Cool I thought. About 20 minutes later, I get a VDI of 16 (foil) from my DFX, but it stays at 16 no matter which direction I sweep the coil over the target, plus the tone is lower/deeper than the regular foil tone. Now, George (deolslyfox on White’s forum) from the Villages in Florida gave me this tip about 18 months ago while we were hunting together.....lower tone, VDI stays at 16 when sweeping the coil several different directions, and if the target is 2 inches or deeper, dig it because it may be a gold ring. I found a gold sweetheart ring about a month later using that tip. Now I'm at the same complex, no more that 30 yards from the very location I found that last gold ring and it's dejavu all over again, only this time the target is a mere one inch deep. So I’m digging anyway because of all the recent soccer tournaments held at this complex. And what do you know, a 10K gold ring with a blue sapphire stone and 10 little diamond chips around it. This is my first gold of the season. Thanks for looking.
