"The precious metals present in each cell phone are basically just trace amounts, so it’s impractical and patently dangerous (because of the industrial chemicals necessary) for you to try and extract these metals from your cell phone at home. It may seem like a joke, but it was in the news last month - a man who fancied himself as an “urban miner” got poisoned by the industrial chemicals he was using, while “mining” cell phones. The giant recycling firms make money by processing tons and tons of cell phones and other electronic waste."

In my experience, you need a lot of money and a lot of support.
If you are really serious, do some more research on the feasibility and PM me.
I have no money,
I do have extensive experience in the hazardous waste industry
and nowadays, non-ferrous metal recycling.

sathmcnugent, posting a title to a thread like that, it's a wonder that a lynch mob is not after you. Normally with that kind of heading, we expect to read of someone hittin' gold with their m.d.
Show us a little mercy next time.

I always just donate my obsolete cell phones to some charity. Abused Spouses organizations ativate them and give them to their clients for protection.....or something like that? Monty

Try goldrefiningforum.com. I've collected close to an ounce from electronics. However, I would have made more taking a job flipping burgers. It can be done, but involves hazards. I guess it's ok if you really enjoy it as a hobby.
