Took a ride in the usual search area toady and stopped at a bank
I have never gotten any halves from before. Only reason I went in
is because I got a parking space right in front. Walked to a few
other banks first and got nothing. Got back to my car and almost
drove away but decided to give this "skunk" bank another try. Well,
they had three rolls of half dollars that were in new hand roll wrappers.
Figured they were junk, but when I got to the car and opened the first
one, it had a beautiful 1964 Kennedy looking me in the eye. Poured
it out and it was all silver but the rest were 40%ers. The second roll
was all 40%ers but for one more 1964. All of them were in uncirculated
condition and worth keeping. Obviously some one had saved them for years.
The Total was (40)
1964 - (1)
1964D (1)
1969 - (6)
1968 - (14)
1967 - (10)
1966 - (3)
1965 - (5)
Then went to another bank that I frequent often and the tellers like me. No half
dollars, but one teller had two rolls of nickels that were hand rolled in old wrappers.
Took them home and found that one of the rolls had a lot of old 1940 and 1950
nickels in very good shape. A total of 26 of them. No war nickels though.
All in all it was a good day. My buddy, (code name "Hotel") was sick when I called
him about the silver half score. He CRH's too and sometimes we go out together
to help with the city parking problem. When we go together we share what we get, but when we are alone it's winner take all. Anyway, he had to work today, so I went out alone.
Sorry "Hotel", I whipped ya today, man. BTW my yellow lab "Riley" stayed home today.
Cheers all. Tomorrow is another day.
