UPDATE ON SHIELD NICKEL

SEE BELOW.

For those who've been following along, you know this is my happy place. Today, I felt like recharging
so I went for a bit of a walk around the mansion again. When I go here it's more than finding things that
I'm hoping for, I'm trying to get myself "centered" again.

I've been here for so long it pretty much is a relic hunt. It will never run out of those! :)

2015 (216).jpg

The big chain like thing I don't know, the center looks like a fence rail holder the spike thing looks
like a chisel or maybe a wood splitter.

2015 (217).jpg

The yellow thing is a piece of a Tootsietoy,
The thing on the top right is a knob of a radio or something.
The folded piece is lead.

2015 (218).jpg

Another folded up piece of lead, a key, and the shotgun shell
says "Western Field" I think.

2015 (219).jpg

Although I was finding what I expected, the mansion saw
that I wasn't as happy as I might be.So, it gave up this one.
Good ole mansion!!

2015 (220).jpg
2015 (221).jpg

It even gave me a passport back in the house! ;)

2015 (222).jpg 2015 (223).jpg

Those who have been fortunate enough to find these knows, this is a lot of detail showing thru.
I want to take my time in trying to clean it up. (Open to suggestion).

Thanks for peeking!

I agree.I think the ground is worse on nickle then copper even.I have never found a shield nickle, but just about all the buffalo's I have found have been shot. Not nearly as old as one of thows.Hell of a find.

Nice Shield nickel and I agree with Worldtalker that you have a reins guide too. Pretty darned good finds for a place you've hunted forever.

Cool shield nickel! The more stuff you remove from that place, the more subtle and deep small targets will present themselves.

Yeah, it is, but there's more to it then that, this was not virgin ground. I saw signs early on that told me this place had been hunted before. Or should I say, "skimmed". Even so, almost every place I've ever hunted has been hunted before. Yet, I still manage to find something from them, over and over and over. :)

I gotta admit though, this place is making me work harder and harder to make that happen here.

The rein guide was my second choice. Does appear to be brass.

If I was to guess, I would think not. Seems like too sharp a cutting edge and the top doesn't look like it would hold anything. :dontknow:

Thanks!
