Went out to a spot I got turned down at a year or so ago after work today when a friend of mine got permission for us because he knows somebody who works there and was able to vouch for him to the boss. The office is an old house from the 30's and there's what we thought was fill dirt out back. Turns out, it's more likely it was "fill" dirt from when they put the road in above the back yard, thereby digging out part of the yards of old houses and scattering said dirt in the back yard of this office.

Anyway, the first dug target was a 1915 barber at 3", and about 10 feet away was a 1916 barber on the second dug target. A little while later I got a dateless SLQ in the front yard. There is a brick wall in the back with a large stump which is now covered in brush right behind it. I was working my way around that area and got a 3-46 hit on my Etrac, looked down, and found my second Kennedy of the year lying on the ground just under the layer of grass. Had to get going, but there's got to be more there, despite what the old man who stopped by and told us he hunted it out already said...

Congrats on pulling those 4 keepers. They made for a great hunt. I get motivated to prove people wrong when they pull up to let me know that they have already hunted a site and cleaned it out. My largest and oldest coin came from a site like that. An 1812 5 Francs and 10" deep. The site was pounded back in the mid 70's according to the old timer.

Yeah, Joe Metal Detector was pretty sure that he stripped that place pretty well and was pretty sure that our detectors were his old ones that he had sold. I put my headphones on and walked away but my partner got stuck being talked at for about 15 minutes because he was more polite than I was. Eventually he told the guy he'd take down his number and give him a call sometime to talk metal.

Wow! Great finds! Seems like that place only gives up coins. Congrats!
Lots and lots of trash there that we didn't dig yet. Buddy also got a cap gun, we pulled a couple of wheats. Lots of metal roofing and nails though.

Those are some sharp barbers!
Right!? None of my other barbers are even close to that. I thought it was neat to dig a 1915 & 1916 right at the 2015/2016 changeover. Good looking coins for that old.

When I hear "pounded back in the mid 70's" I hear "pounded with old equipment"

Already pounded out doesn't mean an Etrac was there before you arrived :)

Nice silver, Jeff!
