Stopped at the 1780s courthouse site for a few hours after work. Decided to look around the large front yard of the 1980s house that is about 500 feet from the original foundation.
Was stoked when I pulled out the 1895S barber half...it was a solid screaming 92-93 signal on the deus about 6 inches down. This was a first for me, as I've only found barber dimes before (skipped the quarter!)
A little while later I pulled this beautiful 1773 half reale from about 2 or 3 inches deep. This is the 2nd half reale from this site, the other being a 1783.
The half was basically black when I recovered it, so I used some baking soda to clean it up a bit. Still has some dark stains on it but I don't mind!
Nice to pull a few silvers with readable dates as all the other 10 or so coins at this place have been coppers that are super toasty and difficult to even tell what kind of coin it is.
Thanks for looking!
edit: sorry the pictures are sideways, they look fine on my computer but for some reason when I upload them they rotate
