I tried to scratch it with knife , but nothing happened . I tried to brake it with stone it didn't break . It's not magnetic .

I am a complete newb but I think I may have something. This "rock" was found while digging on family property in Tuolumne County, CA. Any insight appreciated!

Volcanic rock is less likely, however slag is also a strong candidate.
Kind of uncertain.

Thank you for your response. I thought of slag as well but I am not sure how a piece of that would make it out into the middle of the desert.

Does this look like it could be jade i found it while i was in the woods and i thought it would be a neat rock to break open and see the inside and it ended up being completely green inside and its transparent when i hold a light behins it and it was extremely hard to break apart i actually couldnt do it myself i had help loll also i tried the scratchTest and its not able to be scratched.. please let me know what u think

I'm not really a rock hunter I like metal preferably gold but am happy with anything not rusty. But....this rock is so unusual (for my property in central Georgia) I just am really curious as to what it is.

Hard to tell. A porphyry of some sort? Possibly diorite or Tonalite porhyry - at least one of the intermediate rocks.

The rust is limonite. I see what might be pyrites/sulphides.
