Hello, so excited I found this website. I have a "rock" that was found in the Bisti Badlands of New Mexico about 5 years ago. I "believe" it is from a volcano but wanted to ask someone with experience. Thank you in advance for your assistance!! Photo1.jpg Photo2.jpg Photo3.jpg

Mother lode?

I am a complete newb but I think I may have something. This "rock" was found while digging on family property in Tuolumne County, CA. Any insight appreciated!

Volcanic Rock?

Volcanic rock is less likely, however slag is also a strong candidate.
Kind of uncertain.

Thank you for your response. I thought of slag as well but I am not sure how a piece of that would make it out into the middle of the desert.

I'm not really a rock hunter I like metal preferably gold but am happy with anything not rusty. But....this rock is so unusual (for my property in central Georgia) I just am really curious as to what it is. 0926170812a-1.jpg 0926170812c-1.jpg
