I have also soaked it in HCL acid with no effect on it. Could it just be very weathered ?

the soaking should remove all doubt!... the HCL wasnt watered down?? i only ask because it doesn't have the right consistency.. the outside is wreathed and quartzy and it has veins in it... its possible,, best way to tell now if it is is run some current thru it.9 volts and a light bulb. if it carry's current... drop everything and go get it assayed

Found this heavy,magnetic,possible meteorite? in back yard Nor Cal.

Found this half buried any ideas. Leaves a gold metallic streak on tile and not magnetic. Weighs about a pound very dense and when hammered it makes indent ions and will not break at all.

Seems kinda light at a pound, but other clues are good,

I took these photos under a microscope. This was found in a creek Bed in Mclean Virginia. It cuts easily under a scalpel. Please let me know if this is Pyrite or Mica?

Had a really great weekend with this find. Other specimens are white crystal with grey/black staining in them. Some of this crystal was blood red. Had other that was pure solid black. Even found some green color in one sample. I am thinking quartz here.

Quartzs stringer in slate northern california. The walls of stringer had this blackish green powdery rock. It sparkles or whatever the technical term for that is.

OK I found some more interesting Ore minerals in quartz. This Quartz is from Carderock MD. Can anyone identify this? I will post pics from normal iphone, under jewelers loop and under microscope.

NICE! does a rare earth magnet stick to it?? if it does you got a meteorite.. if it doesn't go at it like a bat out of hell then you have an Iron blob from a volcano (IE what i get all the time)

get one of those 6 volt lantern batterys (home depot or the such) wire one side to the rock put the other one arround a small trailer light and tuch the lightbulb to the rock the open end ... IE

put your rock in at one of the lightbulb spots you only need it as kind of a resistor in the wiring.. or to complete any length of the wiring to the lightbulb..were just seeing wether it carries a current.. you could also check it with a Ohmmeter if you have one (harbor freight 9.99$ ) and this actually might be cheaper. itll also tell you what the resistance is between a set (measured) spot to spot. Gold will have next to no resistance. meaning your ohms will be very low.. or your lightbulb will light up very well easily.. etc

Trick question #1,2,3 all mica ... now in 4,5,6, all have crystaline structure of pyrite in em but also have mica.. and 7,8 pyrite, and sulfide Valleriite or a nice gold sulfide mix .. the lighting throws me off.

its a Silver Hematite and Smoky Quartz mix,,, gorgeous! thats a good piece for a mineral shop or for conversation!

My latest find.

Been soaking this for a while and giving it a nice brushing everyday and seems to be holding some nice gold inside big piece of schist ? I don't know but it's very hard and ver difficult to get any pieces off it. The bottom has a bunch of color to just trying to slowly find the treasure inside.
