Hey guys,
I mainly metal detect, however im into anything historical. I was detecting an old field in CT, when i got a hit. I dug down, and since i saw what looked to be a piece of pottery i grab it. To my surprise it was infact a white arrow head. I believe it is quartz. I took it to my locale club meeting and someone said it was a jacks reef arrowhead. I wanted to see if anyonehad any info about it. Age, what its made of, and if it belongs to a certain people. Any info would be great. Thanks for your time.
Keith

NIce find on the arrowhead. My advice would be to post it in the American Indian Artifact forum, located here: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/board,89.0.html

My question is, what metal object was in the hole? You said you got a hit and dug the arrowhead. As far as I know, no detector can detect quartz!

There was just a nail deep in the whole.

Nice point! White quartz was the material of choice in my area. Looks very similar to many I have found.

Looks like a jack reefs pentagonal. Overstreet arrowhead guide has it listed as late woodland to mississippian period.... 1500 to 1000 years BP - before present. Nice find.
