Got my FIRST SHIELD today!

Took advantage of the nice warm weather and went back to one of our favorite parks. My dad started out with a 10 wheat, and then we didn't have much for a while after that. A couple hours later, my dad pulled out another wheat. Then we just wandered around a while, hoping to find something a little better before we had to leave. I decided to dig a nickel signal which I had very little faith in. I got down about 6 inches and pulled out a coin, figured it was a buffalo. Upon a closer look however, I saw the big ole five on the back and knew it was my first ever shield! not quite sure of the date yet, but I'm hoping its 1878 or older, which would make it my oldest coin as well.

I'm thinking the same thing! I still havent gotten a date off it, and everyone I've asked comes up with a different number. Ill figure it out eventually, its pretty worn too so that doesnt really help

Hopefully I'll run into one soon, we've only seen one pulled out of this park. Getting tougher and tougher to find any decent signals there too so itll require some luck
