Those east coast fellows dig some really old stuff. Here in the Houston area it is really tough to find something older than the late 1800's. In the last year the bunch I hunt with found an 1860 half dime, and an 185? large cent, plus quite a few 1890's and up coins. I found my oldest, a 1799 1/2 reale in a demo spot in downtown Houston about 20 years ago with a Whites 6000. Mu second oldest is an 1854 seated dime found in Old Spring. At least one other fellow that I hunt with got more silver than I did, but I tend to dig all coins and he tends to skim for silver. This year, 2015, I am going to see if I can find some old farmsteads, 1800's school grounds or fairgrounds to dig up some older stuff.
