Howdy All,

I haven't really saw a lot of quartz on the site. Admittedly, it is one of my least favorite point materials. Most of the points that I have found in quartz were pretty crude. I have been fortunate enough to find a few really nice ones. Here are some of my best Quartz points. Want to share your favorite quartz points? The two bottom left are bolen bevels and have a very nice bevel to them.

I love quartz points. The ones I've been finding are very crude but there is something that I like about that. Here are some that I've found over the past 6 weeks or so.

I find quartz but just not a point yet. I got one but it might just be a knife. It seems too thick at the base to be a point. or it might be broken at the base. Quartz is just so crude.

Welcome to TNET! Very Nice! Out west here, quartz is available, but better material like agate (milky colored) was used.

Here are a few, if that's okay.

Here's a few of mine. Most of y'all have seen em before. Mostly creek and river finds. One or two of these from fields.

So its a blade/ knife then? Its the only one like it I have found. The rest are scrapers and tools.

That morrow mountain is something special. Thats either a translucent whitish flint or or extremely high quality quartz. Awesome.

I have wondered about that. The piece below it is like that also. Seems a lot higher grade and not as rough.:dontknow: Thanks. Quartz is always fun to find. Common material here but they did not use is much due to hornstone and lots of local cherts/flint. Find blocks of it in the fields not worked. Never any flakes...

It's funny, I've been finding endless amounts of quartz flakes around here, along with all the points etc...

We have huge boulders of quartz. It's everywhere. I assume they went out to look for the best. Not much else here to make points besides cobbles. Rhyolite and jasper were close enough to import. I think that point is some kind of flint. Reminds me of some of the novaculite I knapp. I have points if the same material I just can't get to them right now.

Well,.Sometimes ?
Hi Louherz ,.. yeah we have quartz out here in So. Cal. . In fact I'd say about 70-80% [?] of the point's I've found are quartz . The color ranges from white too clear . The white quartz ,.. I have a problem seeing the "flaking" ,.. and most of the time have to go by the form ,. which can be nice ,. but I'm sure I toss many brokes ,. just can't tell if it's worked ? Now ,. the clear points ,. which are made from small crystals ,. seem to carry a flake a lot better . Hope this shows true in the pic of these clear points ?
Thanks ,.Blindpig

Some really nice quartz pieces, friends! Especially like the crystalline quartz. By far the most common lithic here in southern New England. Here are some decent points and scrapers my wife and I have found in RI. The first piece is a New England variant of a Hardaway-Dalton point, at 9000-10000 years old, it's my oldest quartz point.

Charl, that first one is fantastic! It's great to see the others as well. Pretty much exactly the same as what I have been finding.

Thanks, Pancake. This one might be Late Paleo, part crystalline quartz. From Deerfield, Ma.
Great thread, Louherz!

All personal finds. I have no cool design, just dont have the talent for it. The small frame were all found together. The large frame was all found together, all were found in the same area. No points all scrapers, knifes, Graver tools and a few choppers. I am still looking for that point that is probably there. I have a big collection of quartz and am still adding pieces as I find them. There are flakes every where. I put an example from a book up with these so you can see. Hope you enjoy, rock
