I am determined to find gold in cheyenne mountain area,i found something that looks like gold but probably is mica, going back for some samples sun. The substance is small flakes, soft, and located in what appears to be a vein of some sorts,i will post pics sun. Probably nothing as it is located in a very obvious spot, but who knows, definately worth another look.

Just on the circumstances that it is *there* and probably plentiful, it is most likely mica or fools gold. There is a lot of it around the front range. Toss some of a sample in a pan or gold pan and swish it around. Odds are it will stay on or close to the surface. Gold will drop to the bottom.

Plus gold really sticks to the bottom of the pan, if its real small make sure you classify down to at least 50 mesh if not 100 or you will lose it. Here in Wisconsin 100 mesh classification or you will not get any as its all flour gold.
