Village decided that we need more tax on our water…tax, tax, tax >:(

Last year hooked up a 55 gallon rain barrel coming off the roof of
the garage; just a small rain will fill it. Wife and I use it for the garden, birdbaths,
flowers. Don't much care about the lawn, it will take care of itself.

Could not see paying $250 for a fancy barrel out of the garden supply.
All extra, parts laying around.

Makes you think about the water you use. I’m not one of those “save the earth” types; :tongue3:
just trying to save a buck. Think I will put up another this year.

Just a thought, save a buck, perhaps save some water. :icon_thumleft:

I would put in another if I were you. saving a buck is important now definitely. and water use outside can be alot so it is good to have alot :)
nice set up!!

I don't know your monthly bill, but could you put in a well? cost is high intitially but in the end you have free water. my well is over 16 years old and sure has paid for itself many times over if I had to have city water. So if it pays itself off in X years and then free fresh great well water, might be the way to go.

If I'm not mistaken saving rainwater in New Jersey is illegal :laughing9:

They are looking to increase our water bill by 17% this year too.. Makes it hard to save a buck, especially since they are saying the last 3 months have been the driest in a long time, and drought warning may go into effect by May/June.

You do have it made. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for the post.

Spartacus53,
17% is not as high as ours went up but still, it hits home. >:(
Think we may be seeing a time when water could be a problem.
Thanks for posting.

Sherman, you have to keep in mind that percentages are all relative to cost

example 10% 0f 100 = 10 and 10% of 1000 = 100

NJ is already either the first, or second highest in property taxes, that will give you an idea :laughing7:

Add on top of the highest property taxes, many towns are now charging you for emergency services i.e. fire & police department. If they are called to your residence, you will receive an additional bill for the service you're already paying taxes for :laughing7:

Go figure :icon_scratch:

And you think your water bill is high :laughing9:

Spartacus53,

think I will just stop using water; die at home, and stop all emergency services for my body.
