I haven't had a tremendous amount of experience grading coins, but my guess is around MS60 with environmental damage. It looks like it was almost brand new when it was dropped. Regardless of the grade, that is one beautiful coin!

well patina is good on coins but this one was in the ground at some point which affects the grade/ value. Sometimes silver coins can be dug and you cant even tell but copper is always easy to tell with

I did recently dig this coin, which I suspect had been buried for 140+ years. ffd

I would grade it AU50. The surfaces actually look very good for a dug coin. I see some green which looks like vertigris. I would get some Verti-Gone or Verti-Care and give it a treatment. Properly conserved it's probably a $30.00 + coin. Awesome find!
