Grass Field Saves the Day

It's really hard now to find land to search we have one good field that is due to be ploughed for spuds so we went and checked it :P
Dam it was still in stubble, so we went looking found a couple of late planted barley fields but they were barron apart from a few musket balls and Vicky coinage. We headed back to the stubble field and decided to give that another bashing :P but nothing showed so in a last ditch effort we hopped the fence and give the Paddock field another look, Michael had had a Saxon Brooch of this Grass field 2 years back
This field saved the day a few roman Bronzes, a nice topless Medieval thimble and my 14th Hammered of the year, my first of a Grass field

Mine didn't picture well but that Bronze As you found looks like the same Emporer but I had no letters.

What is that Saxon looking bronze coin or is it dark silver? (PS. noticed its an Roman immitation)

I tried hard but the hammered were not to be found today.

Thanks 50 is my goal, got to 46 a couple of seasons back, finished on 36 last year...so 50 would be nice

For my is a one Dupondius of Emperor Nerva ....
Look at neck long, the letters AVG (Augustus) right on top of the head of crowned facing right.
a coin from the early Roman empire in Britain.

I'm spending a lot more time this year getting more permissions and fields and it has already started to pay off. Come harvest I am already going to be spoilt for choice, but I don't know about quality yet. Here's hoping .

Yes doing the leg work during the Summer is something I have always done, and it can pay good rewards later I to will be driving around looking for new land
