I found this item on ebay. If you enlarge the photo you can read the front page article about body's found in a mass grave from the 1860's (Indians) If you could locate where these remains were found today you should be in the area of a skirmish. Good luck!

Geez Reb, you have great eyes for an older guy. I enlarged it and still had to use my magnifier!
Neat story though. I've been creek hunting arrowheads here lately. Found part of a buffalo skeleton washing out of a cut bank saturday. Hope i never come upon anything like in the article..
Hope you're finding lots of silver. I've kinda hung it up til it cools down again.
