Great day of diggins

Had a very fun day today. My second silver plated spoon in a week. And my first ever Civil War buttons. The button on the top right was found to be a Maine State Seal Officer's coat button but I need your help identifying the top left button and I don't have a clue what the copper dome shaped thing is with the "E" under the buttons. Any idea what the glass sun is? Any help will be appreciated.

The Indian heads are 1883 and 1902 (in great shape)
The Wheats are 1909 (not VDB), 1914, 1926, 1951 and 1952d

This is also my first ever silver quarter (1936)

Thanks for the response, Plehbah. Both are Waterbury Buttons. The GAR button just says Waterbury Button Co. and the Maine Seal has Waterbury Scovill MF'G Co. with the hilt intact. I think the eye is called a hilt?

Great finds: I have some feelers out on the E button and will let you know if I get an I.D. The eye of a button is called the "SHANK"

The glass round object is a horse bridle rosette. I have pictures of a few that I've found.

The button pictured at the top left came about after the Civil War. The initials on it are G A R. They stand for the Grand Army of the Republic. This was the organization that was formed by Union Veterans of the war. Their counterpart was the C. S. A. Vets. (Confederate States of America). Many of their get togethers, especially in later years, were combined into one convention, and you would have the vets from both sides reliving past fights, and times. The GAR didn't come into being until about 3 or 4 years after the war was over. The button probably came off of a vets uniform. Either lost at a convention site, or one of his kids or grandkids may have lost it. Still a very nice find.

Thank you, Mona Lisa, I would never have guessed that as being a horse rosette.

The back of it should look like this. It decorated the harnesses of carriage horses.

Currently people are taking the nice Victorian glass ones and making them into brooches and selling them.
