Had a neighbor tell me this D buckle is horse tack. And had another person date the buckle cover from 1800 to 1850’s.
My Great Great Great Grandparents lived at this location from the 1850’s to at least 1873. I am searching for family relics. Any help dating these are appreciated.

I see there is a patent for cast buckle shield in 1879. But since this is not marked and is not the newer stamped version, I would believe this is older than 1879.

Hi IHC656,
My opinion is the top one is a Horse Buckel.
Like today, most men had a more ornate buckel to display...which may be the second one?
Teasure Net had a similar Buckel... which some equated to the Civil War era?

Cleaned the D buckle, found no markings.
I assume anything made in the last 50 years would have some markings. (brass buckle)
