Out of sheer curiosity I want to know what mineral is in this rock sample. I found it on a hike with a friend through the desert. It was really hot by the way lol.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona (Northern Phoenix) close to lake pleasant (Sonoran desert)

Surrounding area is filled with what are giant rocks that are mainly spherical or slab like and seem to look like granite. They are very massive rocks 20ft or so tall all kind of piled on top of each other. They range in all kinds of sizes and I believe there is quartz around. I know what that looks like.
After doing a little research my guess was the giant rocks were plutonic rocks.

I'm guessing this is an epidote vein running through granite? Seems to be quartz laying around a lot too.

I found this image to be very similar leading to my conclusion.

Could also be a poor variety of chrysoprase considering where you found it and by the quartz crystallization is of the granite you found it in.
