Green

Been watching some detecting videos, and I keep hearing them refer to some of the coins as very green, or has a lot of green. What exactly does this indicate?

It's the green patina color that coins develop over a period of time.

Probably copper?

The light coating of green on say an indian head is beautiful, I think, when you first pop it out of the ground. When I first started detecting I oiled my first one and all but ruined it !!
