A good reason the Minelabs have fewer problems is because they don't use only one or two frequences at once but 17 on a Sov I think it is. Plus the circuits ignore iron, don't just discriminate it out. The Sov can track the minerals in the ground when set on Track in all metal mode which gives a stable operation.

Thank you Sandman,I have asked this question on 5 different forum's in hope of finding some form of answer to justisfy the money I would like to spend on a GT. You are the only one to answer out of 147 views....Thanks again.

Relic, the Sov GT is a great detector. I am primarily a beach hunter, but there is a LOT of iron on the beaches I hunt. I use it on land too, but my primary hunting is water.

With the WOT on the Sov GT at times I run 3 to 1 on target hits compared to my hunting partners who are not using the SOV GT and WOT.

The Sov GT together with the WOT is a fantastic combination. You can also pick up a SOV used for a good price if you keep checking. I lucked out and found another Sov GT thatg was waterproofed and with the WOT just as it was posted on the "for sale" board and I was first to reply so I am getting it too. I will have 2 Sov GT's when it arrives, one waterproofed and one not. I am selling one of my Excals to finance it. If it works as good in waist to chest deep water as I have been told, I will sale my spare Excal also.

Talk to VaMax, or Michigan Badger about the Sov GT...... ;)

i just ordered my 3rd GT today.got the S12 & S8 coils i truly love.iv owned over 80 detectors and nothing comes close to the GT & S12 on the beach.except a PI and you will dig yourself to death for a bobby pin with them due to lack of discrimination .i got the S8 to hunt the water with as it is easy to pinpoint and the S12 for the beach.dimes are common at 15" with this set up.the WOT i had was good but heavy and not quite as stable as the S12.don't think you can go wrong with the GT.and they just went up $100.lol go figure!

LOL, I thought I was bad with two.............

I haven't had any trouble with WOT being unstable in the water, but I have only been knee deep with my first Sov GT, the one on the way is waterproofed and I'm looking forward to trying it waist deep. I dont have any 8" coils, but do have 2 10 inch coils.

I know on the salt water beaches the Sov is fantastic, I have pulled some deep targets out of the sand, my best was a 1/2 carrot 14k diamond ring this year.

Spring break is coming and the beaches will soon be reseeded...... ;D

Good luck and good hunting.......

I had the garrett 2500 and while I was digging empty holes my buddy was pulling out musket balls and 3ringers. I was so frustrated, he finally took pity on me and loaned me the gt. I was amazed, and the garrett went bye bye and I got the GT, and love it. My friend explained that it wasn't just the garretts that had trouble in the area it was pretty much all machines except the mine lab. I have had mine for about 7 months now and can't imagine using anything else. I still have a couple other machines that I use, but by far the GT in my fav.

Keep in mind also that Minelab is an Australian company. Australia is known for having the mot difficult ground condition to hunt. They are the mineralization pros's
