GTA 1000 problem

I love this machine and think I need to send it off to be fixed. It was working great and then the battery holder broke, I called Garrett and they sent me some new ones for free. I put new batteries in the new holders and it was working great, I found a old pocket watch one day with it after new batteries and holders. I did notice that after I replaced the batteries that it all of a sudden the screen just went blank and I had to turn it back on, but then all was good. I went out the next day and it would turn on but only if I held the on button down, and it also said that my batteries were low. I put new batteries in again and had the same problem. Any ideas on what to do? Garrett sent me two sets of battery holders so I also tried the other holders and had the same problem.

That GTA 1000 came out in the early 90s, time to send it to the factory...for service,if they still will service it....call to see how much it will cost you .

I had the same issue a little over a year ago. I sent it to Garrett and it was the Key Pad Overlay. Cost ~$120.00 to fix if I remember correctly. I had it fixed and the problem came back this summer. I decided to purchase a new machine instead of having it repaired again.

I got a call from Garrett today, Gta 1000 powermaster is fixed and only $45.00. I should get it back Tuesday.

I took it out for about 30 minutes and found a quarter and some trash, it works great. I have a hot head coil that I am going to try on it.
