Hello All,

I was out this weekend and dug this up. It's 3 inches long, made to lay flat up against something (one side is curved but the other side is flat). There is a bench mark of 571 on the item. There is a little hole on the the top of one side (rusted) that appears to have gone all the way through the piece (can be seen as a rust spot in the 3rd photo). Not sure what this is, but hoping for some good news. Any ideas?

I have no idea what it is, but it's not a gun part. I've built muzzle loaders, and looked at and handle originals, as well as looking at many many photos of originals, and I've never seen
anything that resembles it.
