With the weather absolutely perfect this weekend, I got out and hunted an old home site here in S.W. Georgia yesterday. The site seems to only produce and five and ten cent pieces. Nothing more and no pennies. I keep hoping for a large cent but none ever turn up. The highlight for me was when I pulled up, the farmer had just plowed the field as a matter of fact after I had been there for about a half hour he ran back through the small area I hunt with the plow so I could hunt it some more. I'm sure I looked like a "cow-bird" walking behind the tractor. These two half dimes were about sixty feet apart. fyrffytr1 and I have been hunting this field for a number of years now and about every time it gets plowed we find some more coins and buttons. The 1839 & 1843 were found yesterday. The other pictures are of what else has been found there. fyrffytr1 has his own collection from this same spot and is encouraged to post his pictures on here as well.

WOW. Some nice old silvers, must have seen a lot of activity in it's day. I have an old spot like that, but it's no till and the coins are getting harder to come by.

It seems like this spot will never dry up. I haven't had a chance to hunt it this year but hopefully that will happen in the near future. Here are my half dimes and one half Real from the same spot. The oldest half dime is an 1829 and the newest is an 1858. The half real is an 1802 and has been hit by something.

That trime your sporting on your avatar is on my bucket list! I've never found one of those. They must be harder to locate than 1/2 dimes.

Woah !!

These people had lots of kids, that were not very good at hanging onto money.. :laughing7: Poor dad, worked so hard so his kids could lose his money... :tongue3: See, they put holes in their coins so they could sow them into the inside of their dress or shirt. So they would not lose them. They did not have lots of pockets back then. Looks like he got mad a few times and drove that square nail strait through the coins. :icon_scratch: Your digging Spanish silver and you want to find a LC, that's a strange request. Haha !!

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:
