Half Dollar Question....

Hey all! Hope everyones doing well. I had a question about this 1969 d half dollar i came across the other day. i dont really know much about coins so anyway, why is there a circle printed around his head area? I couldnt find photos of one that looked similiar. I don't know if its anything so i thought i would ask. Heres a pic. Thanks!! let me know if you need a larger pic or smaller one.

It looks like another coin was placed on top and the coin around it tarnished

Looks like it is just stained, Maybe something was laying on it at one time.

also looks like it could have been used, by a Bar, to promote juke box playing

they(the bar owners) would paint them red so when the merchant(owner of the juke box) came to empty his machine, he would give the bar back all of their red coins that they used to start the music up.

Kennedy half dollar D below the head stands for Denver Colorado there really commen but only " correct me if I'm wrong" the 1964 is the only ones that are silver.

1964 Halves are 90% silver.
In 1965, the feds decided silver coins were no longer feasable, I assume due to the rising price of silver. Since Kennedy had just died, they did not want to dishonor him by making his coin clad. They compromised by reducing the silver content from 90% to 40% until 1970. In 1971 they changed half dollars to clad as well.
