Hi,

After a lot of rain in Western NC, we ended up with a lot of river stones that washed up on the shore by our cabin. In walking around I found quite a few of what I think are Hammerstones, but I would like to get some input from those more knowledgeable than me. The notches I see in these look way too similar to be natural. Sorry for the photos, some were taken on a screened in porch. Thanks in advance for your time and input.

Welcome to the site. I have to agree that they are all natural stones.

Here the are some Hammerstones I found in southern Ohio. If you look closely at these you can see the pecked areas that were used to repeatedly strike another stone.
