Hi all,
Gary my hunting partner and I were out this week hunting our old Happy Trails site. We
hunted in a woods, that was once an old picnic area. This place just keeps giving up good
finds. We thought after last year we had just about worked this area out, but you know what they
say, you never hunt out an area, BELIEVE IT!!!!

I found 2 Walking Liberty Half Dollars 1934 & 1937, 3 silver Quarters '34, '37, '& 52 D, 5 wheat pennies, a coke a cola knife/bottle opener and a Leather handle knife, Leather missing.

Gary got out a couple days without me, I had to work, he found a bunch of silver. He found 2 War nickels '42 P, & 1945 S, he also found 2 Buffalo nickles, no dates, a Mercury dime 1918, 8 Roosevelt Silver dimes '60, '46, '63 D, '53 D, '46, '54 S & 1964, he also found 3 Silver Quarters
'42, '44 D & 1963 D and 21 Wheat pennies. He also found a arrow off of a necklace.

Not to bad for a hunted out area, Yea Right. LOL

Hope you all had a good week of Spring hunting,
HH, Ringfinder

Nice finds guys.

You can never work out a good area. I have a special park I like to hunt. Been to it over a 100 times over the last 4 yrs. It's pounded I'll tell ya. But I go slow and listen for deep hits. I pulled out a really nice barber quarter and indian today. Not much but it still amazes me what still turns up there.

nice finds!! what do you clean them with??

Hi Grasshopper, believe it or not, most silver comes out of the ground in pretty good shape. For coins that only have silver value, I mostly just clean them with soap and water and then just rub them a jewelry cloth or even sometimes with my thumb, the oil from your fingers will really shine them up. If a silver coin or any coin is of some value, I usually just wash them and leave them alone.
Thanks for your reply.

Jer, we have been hunting this site for over 2 years now and everytime we hunt it we come up with another surprise. You are right, slowing down really helps, listen for those weak signals and dig them.
Congrats on your finding the nice barber quarter and an Indian head penny. Those are always great finds. I'd take a find like that anyday.

For those first timers on here, you can go back into this forum and look at our finds from this great site, It usually is under the heading Happy Trails, by Ringfinder.

Happy Hunting all, and Thanks for your replies,

Ringfinder

Wow, That place is as good as the 'berg! Very Nice. I usually only get one Walker a year so two in one hunt is super in my book. :icon_sunny:

Great to be back out hunting, huh? Still chilly but at least we can count on hunting. :)
