hat pin help

Couple buddies and I hunted an old home site over the weekend..found lots of old stuff, few round balls,8 flat buttons,all different backmarks, some that date from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s...also found this hat pin(i think).been trying to get a positive ID..but haven't so far..anyone ever seen one..it's made of brass about an inch and a half tall and has two shank type hooks on the back..any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance for any help and thanks for looking...Chris.
