Went to a "hunted out" private property site (with permission) today that's beaten to death almost every day. It's not easy finding a spot that doesn't have signs of having been worked in the past. In this area the sod is poor and plugs can show for years.

My first signal was this ring. It's nothing great but the cool thing is I dug it right beside another hole! I drew an outline of the two plugs with the ring right between them after I refilled my hole.

It's not uncommon for me to dig stuff right beside a previous hole.

This is the beauty of target separation and knowing ones detector.

So, just because a site is worked hard never assume it's totally hunted out.

I then got a call and had to leave the site. I had only about 5 minutes hunting time. :(

Oh well, there's always next time. :)

Believe it or not, some people find some junk in a hole after they dig it and don't get it out (shame). Or, they couldn't find the target, gave up and refilled the hole.

The next person comes in and often sees the dug hole and says...hmmm must be someones junk.

Those who take the trash with them will often find more because they clean up the site while they clean it out. ;D

I don't see any markings inside the band but it has a lot of wear. I'm guessing gold plated over silver or something.

This one is an adult size lady's ring. I'd take a wild guess at 1920's to 40's because that's the age of most stuff I dig at this site at that depth.

It was only about 5-6 inches deep.

Thanks,

Badger

Nice Ring Find. I'd say it was a '20 era ring. Looks like it's in really good shape. Might bring some nice bucks at a jewelry store.

The strange thing about detecting, is that some people discriminate out so much, so they don't have to dig a pull tab. Shame on them. Any good detector person worth his salt, knows that a ring sounds just like a pull tab.

Like you, I always love to hunt a place that has been hunted out, try to dig every signal and just see what comes out of the ground. I love those iffy signals.

Again, Congrats and HH, Ringfinder

Too true. You got to remove the iron and shallow targets to get to the oldies.

Great find Badger. The has the real gem look about it. Any idea on type?

No idea what the stones are. I've seen similar stones on antique costume jewelry I've found before.

It now appears the ring is really silver and the goldish look was only oxidation.

Thanks,

Badger
