This weeks business trip was to Milwaukee, but stayed in Chicago last night. So I hunted a few parks last night in Chicago and saved some history. This time I took my XP Deus HF Round Coil to compare to the Equinox 800 on deep targets. Even though deep targets (in all kinds of trash) were tough with the Deus I still managed to have fun and save a few keepers.

Bharp, great stuff!! You obviously have an awesome site there, those Barber quarters are hard to find, and the Indian and V-nickel are in super shape! That tag is very interesting too, would like to know more about it. Congrats on your successful trip. Ddf

So in your opinion which is the deeper machine?

So in your opinion which is the deeper machine?

IMO the Equinox finds deeper targets.

I based this opinion on setting up each machine to hit the deepest targets with the best separation.

So for the XP Deus HF Round:

Start off in Deus Fast present and customize

3 Tone program and customize the tone settings
- 1st tone 202 kHz conductivity 10
- 2nd tone 202 kHz conductivity 57
- 3rd ton 945 kHz

Discrimination 10
Iron Volume 1
Sensitivity 93
Notch 0
Audio Response 5
Frequency 14.4 kHz

For the Equinox 800

Start off in Park 2
Uncheck all of the discrimination from conductivity numbers -9 to 0 (so I hear all of the iron)
use a 5 tone program
set the first tone to conductivity 0 and volume to 1 (so you barely hear the iron)
Recovery Speed 5
Iron Bias 0
Sensitivity 20 or 21 (higher numbers lower performance IMO)

Running these machines in these settings gives the max performance in high iron and modern trash sites where good targets are +8" deep IMO.
