Hello from Cape Cod, Mass! Just took my BH Tracker IV out for a second day. I never realized how much junk is right under the top of the sand!

I'm just learning how to use my machine - it's fresh outta the box. Thanks for the advice I've found here on T-Net already. Very helpful! Yesterday I dug a lot of rusty junk and aluminum crap on the beach, but it was still fun. Great to be out of the house, in the fresh air & sun. Had a much "cleaner" hunt this morning because I'm learning what to listen for. I'm a buck ten richer in clad today than I was yesterday. I'm hooked! :D

I'm fortunate to live in one of the oldest places in America. I have found other treasures without a MD under houses and in wall cavities. Now that I have a MD, I can't wait to get under a couple of old houses with it and a sand sifter!

Oh...gotta run...the tide is going out! ;)

Thanks JT2 for the nice welcome! You're in MA too?

Now that spring is finally here and the sea is at my doorstep - I'm stocking up on batteries and checking ebay for good deals on digging tools!

This MD thing is making me lose sleep at night I'm so anxious! :)

Welcome to this wonderful hobby. And I'm jealous...the Cape is such a great place to detect - so many beaches. And the 'dirt-digging' isn't bad, either. I get up there only once a year.

Welcome!!!

In the spring of 1717, the pirate ship "WIDAH", captained by Samuel "BLACK" Bellamy, sank off the the coast at Wellfleet, on Cape Cod.

Is that beach off limits as part of the National Seashore??

I hope not! It would be great if you could find something from the wreck on that beach.

Good luck!.........HH

Thanks everyone for your replies!

Shadow - I think I'll post some of my finds tomorrow, even if it's only newbie treasure!

Lara - I'm out here at lands end, Provincetown!

Swingman - MDing or not, this is an amazing place, no?!

Sonny - this area has such a long and wild history, I'm probably going to be amazed at some of the things I'm bound to find!

BDoo - I <heart> pirates!!! ;D

MEinWV - Yes! Barry Clifford excavated the Whydah shipwreck several years ago and the museum is on the town pier here. The Atlantic side of the Cape is all National Seashore since the 60's...so no MDing out there, but the Cape Cod Bay side is all town owned beaches and that's where I hunt!
